Bequest

Leave a gift for a lasting legacy

Any gift, big or small, will make a difference to the lives of individuals with neurological conditions.

What is a Bequest?

A Bequest is a gift that a person includes in their Will, which is gifted to a charity after that person passes. We recommend that you seek the assistance of a legal professional to ensure your wishes are properly recorded.

There are four types of bequests you can leave.

  1. Specific or Pecuniary: Gift of particular property or sum of money.
  2. Residual: Everything that is left after specific or pecuniary legacies, taxes and debts.
  3. Percentage or Fractional: A gift of a specific portion or percentage of your estate.
  4. Entire Estate: The gift of an entire estate typically chosen by individuals with no other beneficiaries.

If you already have a Will and want to leave something to Neuro Connection, you can add a simple change to your existing Will called a Codicil. Think of it like making a small update or adjustment to your Will. Once your Codicil is signed and witnessed, with two independent witnesses who are not beneficiaries under your Will, return it to your solicitor. They will add it to your existing Will.

Wording your bequest

If you do choose to leave a bequest to Neuro Connection, the following wording is suggested:

I give and bequeath to Neuro Connection Foundation, Charity Registration Number: CC10037 for its general purposes

  • the sum of $(XXXXX) OR
  • the residue of my estate OR
  • a (X)% share of the residue of my estate OR
  • all my property comprised in (CERTIFICATE OF TITLE REFERENCE) and situated at (ADDRESS OF THE PROPERTY) free of all charges

and I direct that the receipt of Neuro Connection shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors.

If you don't have a current Will, it’s a good idea to seek support from your family lawyer or a trustee company. They can assist you in making a Will that shows exactly what you want. They can also help you include a gift to Neuro Connection Foundation. You’ll just need to provide the full name and address of Neuro Connection, which is: Neuro Connection Foundation, Tui Glen Reserve, 2 Claude Brooks Drive, Henderson, Auckland 0612.

You can let us know. You don’t have to tell us that you’re leaving a gift in your Will to Neuro Connection. However, we would like to make sure that your generous giving is thanked and acknowledged.
