Neuro Connection Foundation is committed to ensuring that personal information of employees, clients and other stakeholders is managed appropriately, and that all relevant obligations are met in relation to the collection, use, storage, and disclosure of personal information under the Privacy Act.

This Policy covers all personal information held by Neuro Connection Foundation concerning other parties (individuals and organisations) which is not in the public domain and applies to all employees and contractors of Neuro Connection Foundation.

Personal information means information about an identifiable individual.

How we collect personal information

We collect personal information from:

  • The individual concerned when that personal information is provided to us directly, including via our website and any related service, any registration or subscription process and any contact with us (such as telephone calls or emails)
  • Third parties where the individual concerned has authorised this, or the information is publicly available, or we believe on reasonable grounds doing so would not prejudice the interests of the individual concerned, or another statutory exception applies.

We will collect personal information in a way that is lawful, fair and does not intrude unreasonably into an individual’s personal affairs. If possible, we will collect personal information from the individual concerned directly.

We may only collect personal information for a lawful purpose connected with our activities and where the collection of that information is necessary for that lawful purpose.

  • Complying with our legal and regulatory obligations
  • Performing our business operations
  • Taking any measures necessary to comply with our health and safety obligations

The kinds of personal information we may collect include:

  • Contact details (name, address, phone, and email)
  • Information relating to qualifications, employment history and visa or work permit status
  • Information in identification documents (e.g., driver’s licence)
  • Bank account and taxation details
  • Other employment-related documents and information
  • Information obtained to assist in managing client relationships, including third party employment practices and demographic information.

Storing personal information

We will take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or inappropriate disclosure.

We will only hold personal information for as long as it is required for the purposes for which it may be lawfully used.

Accessing and correcting personal information

Subject to the Privacy Act, individuals have the right to access their personal information that we hold and to request a correction to their personal information.

If you wish to access your personal information, or request a correction, please contact the Foundation General Manager.

All third-party requests relating to personal information held by Neuro Connection Foundation should be directed to the Foundation General Manager.

Using and disclosing personal information

We will only use and disclose personal information for the purpose for which it was collected.

We will obtain authorisation when personal information is disclosed to a third party except where required or authorised by law.

If you have concerns about us meeting our obligations under the Privacy Act, or otherwise have a concern about your privacy or how your personal information is collected or used, please contact the Foundation General Manager.

If you are dissatisfied with the response you receive from us, you may make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (www.privacy.org.nz).
