Mixed Conditions

Nerve Cells

At Neuro Connection, we also cater for a number of mixed conditions that can affect a person neurologically in terms of their brain or physically (from birth or otherwise) in terms of their mobility and coordination.

Our mixed condition programme, caters to the needs of:

  • acquired brain injuries
  • cerebral palsy
  • spinal cord injuries

In the case of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, which can result from a sudden and unexpected event, specific aspects of the person's behaviour and functioning will be compromised.

Comparatively, with respect to Cerebral Palsy, the person is born with the condition, yet shares a varying degree of disabled or compromised movement. CP is a condition marked by impaired muscle coordination (spastic paralysis) and/or other disabilities typically caused by damage to the brain before or at birth.

In the mixed condition programme, we determine your place in the appropriate class by:

  • reviewing the individual needs of each client, then
  • grouping together individuals in the same class who would benefit from the same rhythm, difficulty and order of task series

Each class focuses on regaining function, strength, coordination, stability and mobility, where tasks are performed in lying, sitting and standing position, within the unique group setting.
