Taikura Trust Meet & Greet
« backOn Wednesday 9 May, Neuro Connection warmly welcomed six staff members from the Taikura Trust, for a light lunch and opportunity to meet. Taikura Trust, based in Mt Wellington, provide support to people with disabilities under 65 years and their families and carers across greater Auckland. They work with this group to understand their needs, develop a plan and ensure the best support services are in place to meet their needs. Taikura Trust are a Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC) service and provide support to the Ministry of Health within their disability services sector.
Felise Naufahu the Residential Support Manager at Taikura Trust and five of his team members, met with NCF staff and board and were welcomed to sit in on a Parkinson’s class. Following the class and a quick tour of the centre, Taikura members sat down for a light lunch with NCF staff, clients and family members. It was a valuable meeting for both ourselves and Taikura staff, both to gain an understanding of our client’s needs and how we can develop our relationship.
During the sit-down lunch, each member from Taikura introduced themselves and spoke about their involvement in the trust. Further stories were shared around the table between clients and family supporters, all who gave honest and certainly heart felt, warm stories about the challenges they have faced. Many laughs and thought-provoking moments were shared around the table.
Felise is the manager for the residential team and Taikura Trust’s DHB in-reach team and we are very grateful and appreciative, that they took the time to visit our foundation. We look forward to growing this relationship.
